Thanks for all your great plugins, I’m a big fan

On a WP Multisite installation, can you explain how to set it up so that:

SuperAdmin can back up everything and

SuperAdmin can restore subsite db tables only and not the whole DB
    or as an alternative
Subsite admin can restore only their db tables (ie not the whole DB)

    Thanks

    Err … do you mean

where is the conf page to configure that ?

If so, it is in the main site (i.e. the one with id 0 which is supposed to be the main blog for the SuperAdmin). For technical reason, this page is NOT is the network backend

    Thanks

    but…

    instructions say something like:
To restore the backups, and if you have backuped only some folders, you will have to execute the following steps:
Install a fresh version of WordPress on your webserver.

and after forcing a few backups from primary site it certainly doesn’t look like it is capturing subsite tables separately

if backup on a per site basis it does create a separate subsite sql file which is nice, but I was hoping to do all from super admin / primary site and generate separate subsite sql files without involving subsite admins. I didn’t see anything that looked like you can set that

    Oh … I see !
You mean that from a superadmin backup you want to extract an sql file for each subsites ?
For now the process is not configured this way but you may still do it mannually as sql file are text file and you could search for table with the name of the subsite …

Why do you want differents name for each backup ?

I have a lot of different subsite owners and it would be just easier to have their backups separate without relying on them to do a backup but in reality I’m not sure how often just one subsite would fail, but just trying to plan ahead for support

it really is acceptable to find the subsite tables in the master and restore that way, I was just hoping for a button click solution

    thanks

If I “try” to create differnt SQL file for sub site would it be more convenient ?

I really appreciate your positive response.

I think it would, for this simple reason dealing with subsites – on my network we offer a ton of theme options and many themes have dummy data – as I’ve played with them and tried them out, I often end up just deleting the subsite account and starting over from scratch. that is not an option for someone that is a subsite admin, they might end up with a bunch of junk permanently messing up their site just because they were testing which theme they wanted to use.

so yes, Please, it would be really great to be able to roll someone back quick and easily without hunting and editing the master file (especially if you could work some magic and name the sql file with the site ID) …

see you offer a centimeter and we ask for a meter…

You are welcome… I add features when I believe they could be useful for users

That’s right: I’m new here and I was looking for backup solution that would be able to work that way on MU – seems I found it!

And the next version will be improved

Indeed, the blogs.dir directory has been modify into /upload/sites/ and the plugin will take into account this modification

    Many thanks for the update!
    Glad to hear that.

    Just installed and looks fine:
can you please explain how the plugin will act if it is Network Activated or if it is only activated at main site please?

I see it has an option to save the contents of each site separately, so I presume there is no need to network activate but would like to have your opinion about that.

    Thanks.

I’m truly impressed. I’m looking around at all sorts of multisite backup solutions and one of the features I’m seeking is resolved by you just this month! How wonderful an Author you are and how fortunate my timing!

If I do wind up using your plugin you’re the kind of author I would certainly donate to…
