Multisite Subsites problem

Hi all, at my wits end at the moment. I’ve previously had a subdomain subsite working but deleted that. Followed guides to switch to a sub directory multisite and altered wp-config and htaccess to suit. Creating multisite seems to work fine but when i try to visit it’s front end it appears but without any theme(twenty twenty is enabled via the network dashboard). I can’t open the dashboard for the subsite either. Chrome returns a “too many redirects” error. I have the main site working on cloudflare; w3 total cache, and jetpack are all network activated and i have tried deactivating them but this doesn’t solve the issue.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
