Multisite transfer localhost to live help and domain problems
-
Hi everyone,
I have to transfer a WordPress multisite from a local host server to a live hostgator hosting account. There are three home pages currently configured like this on the localhost (I didn’t design the site I’m just the guy making it go live):
https://www.mysite.com – Home page 1
https://www.mysite.com/network – Home page 2
https://www.mysite.com/services – Home page 3When the site goes live I need them to be set up like this:
https://www.mynewdomain.com – Home Page 1
https://www.adifferentdomain.com – Home Page 2
https://www.anothernewdomain.com – Home Page 3So as you can see, I am going from a “sub-directory” style setting to a “root domain” setting for each home page.
I already have experience moving basic wordpress blogs from localhost to live and the process involved (i.e. editing database, exporting database, modify wp-config, FTP files to server, etc). So please don’t post links related to a typical wordpress transfer.
What I want to know is if there are any different steps, “how-to’s”, or special processes that I need to know SPECIFICALLY for doing this with a multisite wordpress blog? Are there any good resources or videos specifically for this process? Can anyone help me with how modify the domain links once the site is live and what information/access I will from the client to achieve this? I will be using Hostgator to set the multisite up and host it.
