• Hi, i run a multisite soferstore.com We created a copies for multi-language needs with subdomains.
    it.soferstore.com
    il.soferstore.com
We just need to translate existing content from English to Italian or Hebrew using google translator or other automatic translation because i don’t have time to make it manually.

Our site does not generate solid revenue and i cannot afford to pay for the plugin monthly. I tried few free plugins but they offer translation in browser initiated by visitor when he clicks on the flag (translation on the fly) or create new pages with translation but this is not what we need.

Please advise how can I translate ALL the content of the content of the website (i.e. it.soferstore.com into italian) including pages, posts and products using automatic translation and then to edit translation manually.

    All the best,
    David

  • I don’t think the solution you are looking for exists. At least, not to automatically translate everything from one subsite in a multisite installation to another subsite. Some translation solutions offer API access, but building the complete solution you are looking for within WordPress, probably takes more time than doing some parts manually.

I think the fastest solution is to do the following:

    1. Go to the content in a Chrome browser
    2. Right click the page and let Chrome translate it
    3. Copy the content
    4. Paste it in your WordPress installation

Okay, you want translation and you found a free plugin that would do that on the fly and your future plans are to manually translate what you can when you can as you can! Right?

Sounds like that’s the solution then with maybe some redirects to deal with the yet to be translated content…

Offer the ‘on the fly’ translation on the main site with links to the already translated versions where you can and redirects from the translated sites where the content isn’t translated yet to the complimentary pages on main with the translate buttons…

You’ll want to be proactive where people might complain a bit but most probably won’t. You’ll also want to monitor the traffic and do translate the untranslated pages with high hits first.

You also might want to consider the payback if you should bite the bullet and hire someone or a paid plugin to assist you short term.

BTW: We Americans are probably the worse when it comes to languages. I’m sure most Italian and almost all the Israeli customers will be able to handle your site just fine. The translations probably would be welcome for them but not super necessary.

And you have chat to help your customers.
