Municipal Plugin or Theme

  • Hi,

    I’m wondering if anyone knows of a plugin or theme that can be used for municipalities or any company with sub organizations that allows you to create something similar to an organizational subsite, but is all managed via one word press instance. If possible the plugin would:

    1. stores documents per organization
    2. keeps track of meeting agenda and minutes per
    3. have a calendar of that organization’s events
    4. Have users that were assigned specifically to work only with that organization

  • Have you looked into using a Multisite WordPress installation? This could suit what you are looking for.

    We recently setup a multisite network for Owensboro Municipal Utilities to handle their public facing and intranet needs and it has worked quite well. The WordPress built-in roles/permissions and media management need to be augmented with plugins, depending on the level of control you need. Keep in mind that multisite installations are a bit more complex to setup but definitely worth the effort when requirements dictate it.
