My back up files have weird names

The files have names like this

mysite.com (mvnvar)
mysite.com (mw3c6b)
mysite.com (mwds6o)
mysite.com (mwqqsh)

If I rename the files ending with .zip they work fine. Just wondering what might be the cause of this.
