My blog is blocked by corporate filters. Change URL?
-
I have a personally hosted WP blog about corporate training. About 700 of my subscribers get posts in their email through Feedburner’s email service. One of them says she can’t follow the blog links in my posts “because they are listed as ‘personal’ or ‘social networking,’ neither of which are allowed at my company.” I’ve heard of similar problems from a few other readers.
The URL is https://blog.cathy-moore.com. I’ve read that some corporate filters block any URL with “blog” in it. Is this true? If so, would setting up a new domain and forwarding it to the blog work, or would the filter still see the “blog” in the final URL?
I didn’t ask what web filtering software is used by her employer (huge corporation, so she probably doesn’t know). I’ve checked how some of them categorize my site. Blue Coat lists it as “personal,” so I’ve asked them to change that. Websense and SonicWall have it listed as “education.”
But if the URL itself is the problem, what can I do? Any ideas?
