My blog is broken – no longer has a theme

If you just updated your theme and this error started, something probably went wrong with the update. I would
– swap to the default twenty-sixteen theme
– delete your theme
– re-install your theme
– activate your theme and see what happens.

Oh, thanks but I wasn’t clear…I updated the theme after discovering the problem.

in that case I would use file manager or ftp and go look at the style.css file in the theme folder and check permissions.

Note: you have four files that are getting a 403 Forbidden – The server is refusing the request. messages

I was able to fix the theme issue right away. I was still having other permissions issues and I think it was the wp-content folder that kept reverting to 744…anyway, I have now mistakenly changed the permissions for almost every item in that folder and just have an out of date back up lol. So, I have some work to do:)
