    Hello everyone,

Over the past couple of days, I noticed that the loading speeds for my blog has been rather inconsistent. However, when I tried to make a new post today — it was simply unbearable…

It literally took approximately 3 to 5 minutes to navigate through my previous posts and the administration page for WordPress.

I tried deactivating all of my plugins (Akismet; All in One SEO; Broken Line Checker; Contact Form 7; Google Analyticator; Google XML Sitemap; Post Editor Thumbnail; Twitter Facebook Social Share; W3 Total Cache; WordPress Database Backup; WP Smush. It) but the performance was still sluggish… Moreover, I even tried reverting back to the Twenty Fourteen theme and that didn’t help either.

Can anyone help me with this dilemma?! At this rate, I can’t any work done since it takes way too long to do so.

Here’s the URL to my blog (which is hosted by BlueHost): https://www.nintendounite.com

  • Yes, It is too slow and takes time. and it is strange that it takes time on twenty fourteen theme without plugin. DO you have big database? Did you contacted the server support. Put a simple HTML file on the server and try to check how it respond to that file. Because wordpress readme file is also taking too much time which was not expected.

According to the Blue Host representative, he told me that there was a particular user that’s using an excessive amount of resources. Therefore, it’s causing many users within the shared server to experience some painfully slow loading times.

As of right now, it looks like it’s loading much faster. I’m not sure if they found the culprit or what — but the speeds are tolerable now.

When you use shared hosting, be aware that every site on that shared server will impact all the other sites on the server as they all share the same limited resources. This is why a virtual private server (or even an expensive dedicated server) tends to be preferred when site performance is critical.

Oh boy, as of right now, the share server is the only feasible option for a full time (non-working) college student like myself. Without a doubt, I’ll definitely look into getting a VPN or a dedicated server in the near future.

With that being said, I want to thank you Deepanker Verma and bemdesign for the swift responses towards the topic.
