• Tried to log in today to write a new post and found that my blog is missing.

    Here is the error code:

Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required ‘/home/shaunch/public_html/wordfence-waf.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in Unknown on line 0

Per your ideas above, I can’t update anything … there’s nothing to update. Exact steps to reproduce, just try to visit my blog. I have tried contacting someone at WP all afternoon … got zip. Contacted JetPack, and they referred me to you and a plugin called Wordfence. I can assure you I did not install it … never heard of it, never saw it.

Please help … I’ve been writing here for several years … can’t believe everything could be gone.

    Thank you,
    Lois Bryan

  • It sounds like someone removed the wordfence-waf file, which is supposed to be in the root of your WordPress installation directory, but didn’t remove the code in the .user.ini or php.ini file too. Using FTP, check for the existence of those files and remove the waf code in them if they are there. That should let the site come back up.

If the site was recently migrated then it is probably not that the waf file was missing but rather the file path has changed in the migration and the firewall needs to be optimized again.

    Hope this helps

thank you. I’ve since discovered that my site’s host / provider has had a problem and that she’s working on it. It’s still not up … but I will pass your thoughts along. Thank you for your time. I appreciate it.

    I really need help.

A few days after my post above, my blog re appeared but now it’s some Chinese (?) thing. The person who does the technical stuff for me tells me she’s deleted the old blog, but the Chinese site is still there.

Please tell me who I can talk to who will make this thing go away. It’s got my name on it in the title, but heaven only knows what’s in the body of the blog … I don’t want to be associated with it.

    thanks …
