Please help this poet, my comment box has changed …

I haven’t visited my poetry website theliberatedsheep.com for a week or so but noticed yesterday that the comment box has changed to ‘Leave a reply’ and that the captcha code I previously installed has disappeared altogether.

So I decided to type ‘test’ into the new box and then clicked ‘post’ but a message in blue text appeared stating ‘this page cannot be displayed.’ I checked and this is happening the same for every single page and post of my website.

Nothing has ever gone wrong with my blog before so I’m not sure how to initially proceed and would very much like that my friends, and readers are able to comment.

As a preliminary I disabled all my plugins and did notice when I unplugged ‘WP All in One Security’ although the ability to comment recovers, the new ‘Leave a reply’ box remains and my captcha (maths sum) has still disappeared. Additionally, despite being checked (ticked) not to post un-moderated comments, I noticed my ‘test’ comment was published immediately and not moderated (as previously instructed) at all.

I checked in to Settings and the captcha code and moderation for comments remains checked but obviously isn’t working.

I only started my poetry blog last year and have invested so much in it. I don’t want to lose all my work. I would be so grateful if any of the WordPress staff could please help. I’m not a programmer.

I don’t know if this is a Jetpack issue or WP All in One Security. I have deactivated all my plugs and reactivated them and still no joy or change to my comment box.

Could anybody at WordPress help please?

    Thank you.

Quick update – my friend has emailed to say she visited my website and tried to comment, first of all she received a message about it being an unprotected website and asked did she want to go there and secondly she tried twice to post a comment and her comment got trapped in the ‘wheel of doom’

In her own words … you know that round thing that keeps going around and around on your computer screen and never stops until you click out of the site? And then when you go back you find out that what you wrote was not posted? That thing…

    https://www.theliberatedsheep.com is my website.

So commenting does work if I deactivate the plugin but all my protection has gone. I feel stuck, and helpless at the moment.

Would it be better if I posted this enquiry in the WP Plugin part of the forum?

    Hi,

It seems the comment form is trying to make a https connection with jetpack and that is what causing the error because your website is on http

It could be caused by a plugin that is interfering with jetpack

For jetpack the plugin they advice for security is akismet

Thank you Djenci for your reply,

I already have askimet as a security plugin and this has run fine alongside jetpack since last summer. I have noticed that askimet did an automatic update yesterday.

As I haven’t had any comments on my website since 20th March I’m not sure how long this has been out of action.

By deactivating the WP All in One Security plugin I see that commenting can take place but without a captcha code.

I need security so at present cannot deactivate the WP Security plugin. What can I do?

Ah! Thank you I went straight to Jetpack and disabled commenting from there and et voila! my old comment box reappeared! Gratis!!! ??
