• Hey!

My company wants to start running a WordPress blog but they have their own hosting server that they created themselves. Is it possible to use it when setting up the wordpress site or is it recommended to use some of the existing servers, like Bluehost, etc?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

If your company is running their own server, you can certainly run WordPress on that. You’ll need to make sure your server meets the minimum requirements for WordPress, but, assuming you’re already running other applications on it, it’s likely that you are.

    Hope this helps,

Like Amanda said, I would review the minimum requirements for WordPress to make sure you have that. It’s also going to depend on the number of visitors you expect, specifications of your server such as the memory (RAM), processor(s) speed, and hard drive speed.

We switched from a third-party hosting provider to doing it ourselves. We have a couple pretty big sites, so we ended up adding some servers. The good thing about doing it yourself is you have a lot more freedom and can easily change/update things on the server as needed. The downside is if anything goes wrong, you (or your IT staff) are responsible for getting it working again.

Good luck and let us know if you have any other specific questions.
