My dashboard is not loading

  • I cannot make any changes to the actual page. If i type in my domain name /wp-admin nothing loads but if I put in the domain name alone the page actually comes up. Yet it does not allow me to make any changes to the site.

  • Do you have error reporting enabled? This may give you a specific error that will pinpoint the issue.
    PHP version can also sometimes have an effect. You may want to increase the version if applicable (5.4+ should do fine).
    Of course, you can run through the regular gamut of disabling plugins to see if that helps.

    Its not allowing me to access the dashboard at all. The screen goes blank and does not load.

    I get the options on the homepage of site but once I try to click any other page or to make changes the pages never load.

    Therefore I cannot view the error report or plugins neither can I update wordpress.

    You do not need to access the dashbaord in order to enable debug mode. You can find how to do that here: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Debugging_in_WordPress

    You may be able to change your PHP version if your host provided a PHP switcher in your host account dashboard.

    Did you install any WordPress plugin before this happened? Sometimes a conflicting plugin might cause this.

    Hey @archiform3d, your WordPress dashboard is not loading because theme and plugin is conflicting.
    Go to control panel’s file manager of your hosting and find the folder called as “plugins” , rename this folder to something like “plugins_bk”, that should disable the all plugins without deleting it.
    Try changing the theme as well.

    Now try to access the wp dashboard. It should work.

    After that to pin point your issue with exact plugin, rename the folder back to “plugins”,go inside the folder and individually rename each and every plugin to see which plugin is causing the issue.

    hey @rachix090 I didnt install a new plugin. The site was actually completed and someone wanted to come back and make changes. Now I did add an editor to the site the person who owns the actually site and I feel like they made changes but I cannot tell what, But the person knows nothing about word press so this might be bad.

    @rachix090 its not letting me do anything. Let me try explain it in more detail. If i go into the actual site everything is working properly. As soon as I type in my domain name /wp-admin the login in prompting. When I enter my credentials nothing happens the page takes forever to load. I then go to the site again without /wp-admin and it allows me to see the site in wordpress. If I try to click anything nothing happens the page goes blank and it never loads.

    Ok. So, here is my deal. I was able to get into my dashboard yesterday and since that time, I have not been able to get back to my dashboard. I can login, but there is not dashboard or admin panel.

    It says, “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” when I try to access the /wp-admin
