  • Looks really, really nice. Very clean and professional. How long were you testing WordPress before you decided to make the switch from Joomla?

I’ve been using Joomla for several years. I started with WordPress on the recommendation of a college. I started with toying with the basic setup and management in a virtual machine for a week or two. I then installed a copy on my development server. I replicated my current setup from Joomla in WordPress. I then did some performance testing. This took another couple of weeks. Once I was comfortable with WordPress structure, themes, etc (customization in PHP), I move the dev site to live and cleaned up a few things.

All in all, from initial testing to go live was about 1 month. Preliminary live results show a decrease in request response time of around 50%. So far, I’ve been pretty happy with the switch.

    What do you think?

Hey there, nice site. Can you tell me what you mean by “decrease in request response time”? I’m considering migrating to wordpress as well.

All the best with your site and wordpress!

I am looking at stats of how long it take to generate a given page. Basically, it’s the time between a client requesting a page and the beginning of that page being delivered to the client. My times using Joomla were around 1 second. My times using WordPress are around .4 seconds. The sites were relatively the same in complexity and size.

I like it. Good use of colors and nice layout.
