• As you can see, chronicle.su has no footer that follows you down as the page as you scroll. By default, I think it says proudly powered by WordPress, or copyright or something.

This is on a regular pure Twenty Seventeen theme with minimal child theme changes at play.

I would like to restore that footer but I don’t know how I broke it. Can anyone suggest some common problems that could result in a missing floating footer? I don’t know if floating is the right word for it, but it sticks to the bottom of your phone screen or browser as you scroll through the site, giving you an always-on quick button to home. I liked that feature, and would like to bring it back to my site. I never removed it or anything. Just one day I noticed it wasn’t there anymore.

    Thanks,
    James

  • Hi wordpriss,

It looks like there is some changes have been done directly in Twenty Seventeen theme’s files. As you have mentioned, there are minimal changes in the child theme. The footer text “Powered by WordPress” in this theme comes from the file on the path “themes/twentyseventeen/template-parts/footer/site-info.php” file and if this file has not been copied in the child theme then there is a possibility that the changes have been made in this file directly in the parent theme. To restore it back to default text, just download a fresh WordPress zip from www.ads-software.com and replace the folder “twentyseventeen” under “wp-contents/themes” from the new folder extracted from the downloaded zip.
