I made a change or added a plugin in the past month that has changed the way Google Analytics sees my site. Now it thinks everyone sees at least 2 pages. it now always says I have more “non-bounce” visitors than the total number of visitors. I have tried to figure out what I did that caused this but I honestly have no idea. I have deactivated the one or two plugins I think I may have added but that does not seem to make a difference. Does anyone have any thoughts?

  • I’ll take a guess.

It looks like you’ve got the Google Analytics code on your site twice. It’s in the HEAD tag (hard-coded in your header.php file perhaps?), and then again at the bottom courtesy of the Ultimate Google Analytics plugin.

As the code is firing twice… your visitors are getting counted twice.

Ah yes, I that would do it. I should have looked at the source code earlier.

I did not realize that a plugin that I recently added also added in the Google Analytics code. I don’t need it as I am using Ultimate Google Analytics.

    Thanks for your advice!!!
