Another user was is using Safari on Mac and he said that he was change font sizes via the browser but for some reason it has made the homepage permenently wacked. I am looking at my IE and Firefox browser and all the fonts and font families are different sizes. If you click on one of the archives you will see how it should look. Can someone help me find out the problem or pinpoint how to fix it. Thank You.

  • In your post “Any juicy articles out there?”, you have probably copied and pasted in text and/or image from some other program, such as a web browser, Word or FrontPage.
    You have the markup:
    <font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font>
a few times at the end of the article.
If you delete that in your Write Post widget, or maybe better delete the post and republish it, you’ll get rid of the extra big fonts.

Remember: Do not ever copy and paste from any program that has styling. If you have to copy something, first copy to a plain text editor, and from ther into the Write Post dialogue!

yeah i started figuring that out but I was not sure what to take out. I took it out on the first few but was not sure about the rest. Would this effect my overall homepage though. My naviagtion links on the right are also larger. Let me try.

petit that did the trick…thank you very much. We have a few users…should I just remind them not to copy and paste from other programs? Is there a way to prevent pasting or something? Just a thought is its possible otherwise thank you for the help.

Well MontyV, I’m here to help and I’m not forced to do so.
I’m happy my suggestions helped, and you already thaked me.

This WordPress support forum is a friendly place where WP user help each other with all kinds of things.

You can join in if you like, and help out with whatever you know. It’s a great way of lerning, if you have the time.

You could ask them to disable the “rich visual editor” — it’s a checkbox right at the bottom of their profiles.

Be warned, though, that this means they won’t be able to format their posts like a word processor, but will have to insert the tags by hand, like:

    <strong>Here is my bold text</strong>

Petit I hang out at many forums and WP is one of the only places I have not contributed. I just feel with my lack of knowledge on the subject I don’t have much experience to go off of. I’m sure if I run into a subject that I have done myself I would contribute.

Maerk that is a good idea. Maybe I can give that option to users by informing them during registration or something.

You can actually set it so that users do not have the RTE on by default — i.e. new users will see the plain text editor.

In options, under “Writing” you should see “Users should use the visual rich editor by default” — uncheck that box.

Good to know. It has only been really one user who did this. I’ll wait and see if this continues and just ask the users if they prefer to have it this way. It seems the majority use the built in editor. Thank you.

The built in editor is much more user friendly, so it’s understandable that people want to use it. It’s just a pity that it has so many bugs ??

so it’s understandable that people want to use it

But they never want to learn how to use it ??

In all honesty the reason why I have used another editor or even why the other user used it was because, it has happened to i’m sure everyone, when you click send for some reason your browser give you some error message. It happend maybe because I have been idle too long or whatever and when you go back on the browser your info is gone. So there are times even for myself where I will type it in notepad then copy it over.
