• I have set up a custom menu for my website and everything was working well. Ever since I started publishing some pages and articles, my ‘menus’ section (in the Appearance tab) is no longer accessible.

My IE browser indicates this error in the status bar:

    Webpage error details

    User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SU 3.28; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C)

    Message: ‘postboxes’ is undefined

    Char: 3499
    Code: 0
    URI: https://www.tresors.tv/wp-admin/js/nav-menu.js?ver=20100611

Also, there’s an article I can’t edit anymore because when I click on the ‘edit’ link, my page stops loading at the editor. Plus, the ‘Visual’ and ‘HTML’ tabs are not clickable.

I’m freaking out. I tried re-installing the wp-includes and wp-admin folders and nothing works.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I swtiched back to the Twenty Ten theme and everything works back again. This is too weird… How can one theme corrupt all those sections? (From time to time, I use to get a 500 error too)

Guess I’ll have to look for another theme.

How can one theme corrupt all those sections?

Themes can (and sometimes do) affect the Admin area.

But… I don’t get it. Shouldn’t they be testing them before?

That’s something you’d need to ask the theme’s developer. Only newer themes from the www.ads-software.com Theme Repository undergo an independent review/testing process.
