My own theme, infinite page count

Hello there,

I am a new “presser” (I made that up to fit in) and I am trying to create my own theme. I started from scratch by following a tutorial. The one from themeforest.net up until the comments page I was moving forward with full power, but once I implemented the comments.php page, the error occurred.

If you click on any single post, the post repeats infinitely to the end of time. I put in a few test lines of code and it just seems like it does not exit the while loop that single.php runs.

Everything in the while loop works like a charm: all the calls work properly, even the comments come out fine…however as I alluded to the comments.php as being the source of my problem earlier, it was deduced as such because when I take out the comments.php call from the single.php, it runs smoother than a greasy marble pig sliding across ice.

I’ve looked up the problem and there was a plugin that I installed called “Permalink Fix & Disable Canonical Redirects Pack” but no luck. So then I even downloaded the source code of the tutorial (which ran fine on the video he was showing) and just ran that; and the same thing happened.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Running XAMP w/ Apache, MySQL and FTP activated
WP 3.1 (not the latest, I haven’t figured out how to update yet….)
