• Hi

I just noticed that an RSS feed on my main site linking to my main blogger blog has stopped updating and has got stuck quite a few posts ago. The other RSS feeds on the same site are updating – however. My main site is https://www.lovingkindness.co. The RSS feed not working is listed under the heading “My Blog Dwelling Place Below” (found on the right sidebar). The actual address for the RSS feed works perfectly. It is just that on my main site, it is not updating.

I have tried using the “Fix my feed RSS repair tool”, though this doesn’t help. I think it works for error messages – but I am not receiving an error message. Just that it doesn’t update.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

I should have mentioned – the actual blog which I am referring to which is not being updated in the feed is https://dwellingplacebelow.blogspot.com – if this helps.

That’s not a WordPress blog though.

Correct. See first paragraph (the problem is the updates coming from “my main blogger blog”). The point is that the RSS feed (widget) is showing the other blog without updating it (i.e. the widget won’t update). I don’t see why this should make a difference if the blog was on WordPress or not.

Perhaps there is something happening with the widget on the WordPress page which hosts my main site (lovingkindness.co)? The actual feed works if one enters the feed into the address bar of the browser – but it won’t show up on the widget. This is my query. If WordPress support cannot help – who else can I ask?

Oh I see. Are you using a plugin to pull in the RSS feed?

I use the standard RSS option in the widgets section of the WordPress site. I have also tried using another plugin called Freedzy RSS Feeds – but it too does the exact same thing. As far as both are concerned, my blog posts on the other site have stopped at this one particular post and it refuses to acknowledge other posts are happening.

Can you switch back to the default one that WordPress uses for debugging purposes? Also what is the feed URL you’re using?

    Thread Starter rebeliyahu

    (@rebeliyahu)

Yes certainly. I am actually using the default widget option. I have the following URL: https://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/LBYgEW (which funnily enough works perfectly if one uses it the browser address. It just doesn’t want to work inside the widget!)

I have also used the standard URL (which always directs to the URL above in any case). It is: https://dwellingplacebelow.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss

So in conclusion – both URLs will work perfectly in the browser, but inside the widget they won’t show the most recent posts.

    Thanks again.

It’s because that’s not the true RSS feed. The RSS feed is an XML file that doesn’t look pretty to humans, as it is meant to be machine-readable.

We need to check that the RSS feed itself is churning out correct content.

If the RSS feed is correct and is working in the default WordPress widget, and you’re still experiencing the problem, then we can explore if you have a caching problem.

Andrew, the RSS feed address I provided is in fact the correct address. It is for blogger – though the WordPress feed does indeed look like the example you have given.

    Here is what I did:

    1. I did some resets in the Feedburner account.
    2. Believe it or not – I changed my ordinary widget to a plugin
    3. Today – after posting something, I see that while the old ordinary feed widget did NOT update – when I changed it to the new one, it DID update!
    4. For some reason, all the posts in between this update and the from where the problem began still do not show up (even though the new one now does show up!)

I will continue checking it. It looks like from the reset of Feedburner that something changed and it is back to updating – but the older posts for whatever reason have simply disappeared in terms of their updates!

I’ll give it a few days. Hopefully, it looks like it is working again after all this!

    Thanks!
