My RSS feed (https://soccershout.com/feed) is showing up in my reader with

    * No line breaks – paragraphs just run together
    * No links – the text shows but it’s not clickable

Can anyone give me an indication of where to begin to troubleshoot this?

I’m running 2.0.6 – is this a simple case of needing to upgrade? If so, is 2.0.9 sufficient or do I need to jump to 2.1.1?

    Thanks

Feed looks just fine. Validates too.

What are you using to look at it with?

    I’m using Google Reader.

The other feeds I get with GR look pretty.

I want to be pretty too. ??

Are you offering full feed or excerpted feed?

Under Options->Reading, I have ‘summary’ selected.

I usually try to fill out the Excerpt box on the post screen (but sometimes forget).

I recall I used to have ‘Full Text’ selected on the Options->Reading page, and it didn’t show line breaks either.

(When I write, I just hit enter at the end of the line…is there anything special I need to do when writing??)

I noticed (and appreciated the irony) that the RSS of this thread is retaining its line breaks in Google Reader.

Upon reviewing the source, I see
…
markup around the paragraphs.

Is that they key to making this work?

If so…does the focus become the ‘writing’ rather than the ‘reading’? What do I need to do to get
’s around my paragraphs?

Probably turn on full feeds. As far as I know, excerpts are handled completely different.

Was there ever a solution for this? My RSS feeds look terrible!

I’m afraid not. I just switched to full feeds like the man said.

Without full feeds turned on, your feed won’t have the content of your actual feeds, just excerpts. Those excerpts are devoid of formatting (what with them being excerpts and all).

I found out the problem – it wasn’t WordPress’s fault at all, but the extension Podpress. I found a fix on their forums and (after losing a hundred subscribers!) everything is back to normal.

Hey, that’s really great, I’m thrilled for you.

Ummm, any danger of mentioning what the problem was or linking me to the forum topic so, like, I can fix mine too?

When podPress was activated I had problems with the RSS feed: no images, no breaks, no links. Have a look at this discussion thread at the podpress forum. Hope this could help to solve also your problem.
