  • I like the feel of the site, even the targeted ads.

I don’t really understand your header picture, how does it relate?

Let me know what you think of my blog too: blog.nvsounds.com

I thought the header was something like a doctors office. Whatever it is, it adds to the overall calming feel I got from the site.

I’m a type II diabetic, diagnosed about 15 years ago. I found the site to be very informative without being too technical…kind of ‘matter of fact’. Lots of good info. there, I’m going to bookmark it.

    Thanks for posting!

Hey littlerichie, forgot to say, i like your site a lot too, very clean and crisp, easy to read. nice work

Hi, I liked your site a lot. It appeared very professorial.
    Here′s what I′m gonna suggest for you;
It′s obvious the site is about diabetes, we can all see it, but I still think it would be nice to have some kind of quick and simple site-description. you know, like an “about”-page. Maybe it′s just me but when I go to a new site I like to read something like “Hey and welcome to this site, which is about blah blah blah!”

I think the header has some really good colors too. If you′re going to change it then at least keep some nice warm colors, like red, or brown, or off-white. And whatever you do, don′t make the header green. Green is by far one of the most unsettling colors in the spectrum. ??

Your site is nicely devised. Great color scheme. Precisely positioned elements. Nice. A few comments:

Shouldn’t you have a home link on the navigation. After I clicked on About Us and some of the other links, I wasn’t sure how to get back to the home page. I finally figured out that clicking the header image got me there. A Home link in the navigation would help.

The Contact Us tab kind of hangs out there. I wonder why it’s so important to be displayed so prominently. You have a link to it in your nav menu. It seems unnecessary to me. Just my opinion.

Hey roy, thanks for the comments and yes i cant seem to figure out how to put home page in menu. I made my menu, and added it, but it doesnt show, still trying to figure it out.
I can remove that contact button, if its distracting.
    Again, thanks to all.
    Mark.

I just tried to add homepage as a custom menu, but still doesnt show up

I really like your site, and I agree about the calming feeling the pic at the top provides. I’m not sure if it is the right subject matter – only because the staged sofa and urns give it somewhat of a furniture store feeling. There are several things you could do here. One would be to fade the picture out a bit and add larger graphics in bolder colors – maybe a quote by someone saying something about how they have overcome the difficulties of diabetes. The calming effect will be there but the focus will be on the message.

Currently, the large text and sub-text are very close and you should avoid repeats like this: Diabetes Information: Diabetic Information and Products. Why not use your domain name instead: “Help With Diabetes” for the large text – this will help people remember your site. The smaller text can say something like: “Bringing You Information and Products.”

Just on a personal note, I know the image is part of an article, but the pic of the guy smoking is off-putting. Unfortunately, when I left the site, this was what I remembered.

You might try adding a carousel with numerous pics at the top. I’ve done this with my site DomainStick.com, and it has worked very nicely. The Plug-in Customized Widgets, which I bought through Theme Forest (for hardly anything) has made my theme very flexible. I found that moving images – fading, sliding, etc – makes people stay a bit longer when they arrive.

One last note, can you make the text in the Diabetes News smaller so that it’s the same size as the post text? I say this because the large font is causing spacing problems – you end up with lines with single words. This will also mean that the widget with the largest text would be reserved for the Pages section.

Hope this helps. Keep up the good work!

    Robert

    Thanks!

Aah! I found the “About us” page. You might want to make it more obvious. I’m not saying it’s hard to find, but it’s not where I was expecting it to be, and it took a bit of hunting to find. IMHO, moving the “About Us” link to under “Home” may be a good idea.
