• I need help because I have no idea what I am actually searching for or the terminology I need to find it.

    When I type in my web address;

    https://www.designpush.co.uk

    in somewhere like a ‘facebook message window’ It automatically adds the title ‘Marketing – Design Push'(I think this is because Marketing was the most recently published post as shown in the activity log) but this was because I was hacked.

    I don’t really use the site as a blog and just want to direct people to the homepage(or at least a more relevant page). I am using the minimatica theme.

    I cant find a way to remove the recently published list or to change any of the general settings to make a difference, and I am not sure what to search for. Can someone please point me in the right direction to get started.

    Thanks in advance.

  • If I go to that URL, I see no mention whatsoever of “Marketing” anywhere. Are you referring to a particular page?

    Sorry its hard to explain this with my limited knowledge and vocab. I have a screen grab showing what I mean, but I am not sure how to attach it here.

    Its happening when I send my website address to people. So for example if I want to open a messenger box in facebook and write ‘check out my website’ (and then type in the address) a section automatically appears under the address, but it says Marketing – Design Push…….. instead of just Design Push.

    Thanks for looking.

    Julie ??

    Hi Julie!

    The text that shows up in facebook (and other social media platforms) are guessed, or picked from something called “Open Graph” text.

    <meta property=’og:title’ content=’Headline in Facebook Post here’ />
    <meta property=’og:image’ content=’https://www.your-website.com/awsome-looking-image.jpg&#8217; />

    The og:attributes also include description, url, ISBN number for books etc.

    I am using a plugin that is no longer for sale (and have some issues), but if you search for “facebook open graph plugin” or similar you might locate something that can work.

    I tried posting to facebook now, and it says:

    Julie Fitzpatrick Design push
    designpush.co.uk
    Architectural services

    I believe it’s looking in your RSS feed, where a post called “MARKETING” is the first (most recent) entry:

    Feed: https://designpush.co.uk/?feed=rss2
    Post: https://designpush.co.uk/?p=37

    Simon is right, you should include OG Meta tags in your site, to avoid Facebook from picking “random” metadata.
