My site is fat?!

    Hey there, i like the plugin so far.
    But:

    The overall size of my site may well be above 2 GB, yes. Theres lots of files involved. The point is: i am excluding three folders from the backup, so in the end the backup will be about 90 MB. But for some reason these exclusions dont seem to get recognized by the plugin. It keeps telling me my site is too fat and i cant even start a backup.

    This forces me to untick “Everything else in wp-content” (in order to get the calculated backup size down). But i lose a lot of files i actually need to backup that way.

    What am i supposed to do?

    Hello @d0m1,

    Thank you for reporting the issue.

    Until we check the issue and work on the solution, please perform these steps:

    1. Make one backup:
      – Without database
      – With Plugins+Themes+Other files in wp-content directory only
    2. If it succeeds download that backup to your PC and remove it from server, then make second backup:
      – Exclude database as well
      – With Uploads directory only
    3. Same thing there, download it and remove from server and make last third backup:
      – With database only
      – Without any files included

    If these three will success, you can restore them one by one and the same order, database at the end.
    With that approach the restoration or migration will be still valid.

    I hope that your Uploads directory takes less than 50% of entire size, then it should be completely fine, if my assumption is right.

    Hi,
    thanks for hitting me back. I did not follow your proposal, simply because its not feasible to do three consecutive manual backups in order to circumvent a limitation that comes with your plugin in the first place.
    I mean i get it, you guys want to sell the pro version and thats totally fine.
    I just think the free version should work as advertised and that means the total backup size should be calculated with path and file filters in place. It doesnt make a whole lot of sense otherwise.

    Yes, is aware of the issue and the fix for it is planned for one of the upcoming plugin updates. I just wanted to suggest a bypass for the issue that is available at this time.
