I just made the switch to a self hosted www.ads-software.com blog a couple of days ago https://thechunkychef.com and I purchased and downloaded the Food Recipe Theme by Inspiry Themes. I am finding it to be completely overwhelming. I consider myself a reasonably intelligent woman, but all the code talk is baffling. I followed the set up as specified on the how to documentation from the theme developer and I am getting a lot of 404 Not Found errors. When you first go to my site, my posts are there. But if you click on home, blog, recipes, etc… you’ll get a 404 Not Found error. I’m completely frustrated and stuck, and feeling like I wasted my hard earned money :/

Does anyone have any ideas to help me? Or is there a way to completely wipe out that theme and reinstall it to start over? I’ve already deleted it and reinstalled, and it just brought me right back to where I was, like I’d never deleted it before.

Please help if you can, thank you!

  • Go to Settings –> Permanent links and change your permanent link settings to something more descriptive.

Then go to Appearance –> Menu and check your main navigation links. You may have to manually re-setup your navigation links there.

The author of your theme also offer support on his site: https://support.inspirythemes.com/

Thank you so much! I’ve created a support ticket there, although they don’t seem to be resolved very quickly (from comments I saw). I will try your suggestions and see if it helps!

Okay that helped tremendously! No more 404 Not Found errors. The only thing is that my posts still don’t show up, even though the dashboard says that they are there.

Go to Pages –> Blog page and set the Page Template of that to Blog (you can find the option under Page Attribute, the default location is on the far right).

Then go to Settings –> Readings and set your Front Page and Post Page to a desired setting. This is different depending on your preference.

Also, you still miss the Navigation setting on the “home” link. You need to set it to your home URL.
