• Greetings:

Aren’t site maps usually located at the address: domain.com/sitemap.xml?

My developer has located my sitemap for my re-launched web site (migration from Drupal to WordPress) at: https://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com/sitemap_index.xml [^]

It is divided to 5 different maps.

Does this makes it hard for Google to understand the hierarchy of the site and the structure? For instance the tags have their own sitemap. Are they important as much as the categories?

I have been reading that the best practice is to include one sitemap, that has all the pages and arrange it by the hierarchy of the site.

    For example:
    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/sitemap.xml [^]

My site was relaunched on July 10th. Google has not yet indexed all the pages (the site has about 500 pages). Also, Google has shows 150 pages of duplicate content, with the identical page (old version & new version).

I am concerned that the unusual site map structure is contributing to these Google site indexing issues.

I might also add that we are using Amazon cloud server where our images are hosted. Google has not indexed any of the new images.

    Thanks,
    Alan
