Overnight my email inbox has been flooded with Wordfence alerts of users being “locked out from signing in”. They are still coming in, about 200 since 3am this morning, 6 since I logged in 10 minutes ago and all seem to be different people from different countries… I’ve looked at 3 alerts and they were from South Korea, USA and Wolverhampton UK. However, there is little evidence of this looking at the Wordfence control panel while logged into the WordPress site. Blocked IPs box is empty while emails say it’s blocked loads. Wordfence seems to be doing it’s job under intense scrutiny but what do I need to do? Can’t ignore it! I have upgraded the WordPress version to 4.6 and the Wordfence plugin, beyond that I’m struggling.

  • Hi Ian,

It sounds like Wordfence is blocking these bad logins, which is good. However, I might suggest using a plugin to change the login url. This isn’t really a fix, but it should lower the attacks for awhile. We don’t officially recommend any plugins but I have heard from other users that WPS Hide Login plays nice with Wordfence.

Hi.Yes I’ve already done exactly that and it has solved that problem. I still have a small glitch to MarketPress though which I am trying to find answers to in another post. When you and mark an item as “shipped” the page goes blank but for the WordPress frame and menus. I suspect that reinstalling the plygin might clear that but I’m terrified of losing any of my client’s existing data, including 3 sales that are mid-process. That is, waiting to be marked as “shipped”. Can you help with that?
