• Someone managed to sneak a Trojan onto my site. I deleted the whole site and installed a clean version of wordpress, but of course the database may also be compromized.

After setting up the clean version of the site, I just exported all of my posts, pages etc. to my PC. I want to go ahead and delete the database and install a fresh one to make sure no hacks remain in place.

But I am wondering if once I set up the new database with the clean wordpress install, when I import the posts and pages I exported from the hacked site, can these contain hack code still?

  • You can export posts; just make sure that the permalinks of the exported content are the same on the new installation.

    ?? Hope this helps.

Hey Liza, thanks for your response, but I am not quite sure if you answered my question or not.

My question is: If I export posts from an infected/hacked site, and then import them into a clean site, can the clean site become infected/exploited?

you can only replace certain parts of database that contains posts to new database and leave rest all . It will be fine
