• Hey All,

I have searched everywhere for an update for the XCELERON: PREMIUM BUSINESS THEME which currently isn’t mobile friendly on a clients website. We can’t update the entire website until post xmas and have targets to hit, I can see the mobile update really hit these guys hard because of this.

    https://www.ozhosting.com.au/

Aside the mobile plugins, are there any other options here in making it mobile friendly?

    Many Thanks,

    Colm

    Hi Colm!

Have you tried reaching out to the theme’s author?

Do keep in mind that commercial products are not supported on these forums.

    As for:

One way I can think of would be to create a child theme of it.

    Hi Jose,

Thanks for the response, understand the theme convo isn’t supported here.

I have reached out but I believe it’s simply been left aside with no obvious updates in years. I’m not confident I will get a response from them.

Could you elaborate slightly on creating a child theme, just so I am on the right research path?

Would you agree it’s a better option than the mobile plugins, I am just worried about their affect on tracking, user experience, SEO etc.

    Thanks mate !!!

    THEME COFFEE MONKEY

    Hi Colm,

    In regards to:

Could you elaborate slightly on creating a child theme

What’s super cool about child themes is that if the parent theme ever does get updated, any changes you make won’t be lost. Unless that author up and changes the entire structure which is a rare occasion.

A good start would be the theme handbook:
    https://developer.www.ads-software.com/themes/advanced-topics/child-themes/

Cool part is that often times the child theme will override a lot of the parent theme files. ( depending on how the theme is coded ). I’ve come across one or two that use the wrong function to get a some files but those are easy, simple fixes compared to fatal errors to troubleshoot. ??

Child themes are the recommended method of altering themes. If you are super gutsy, you can of course modify the parent theme files but if you do make sure to have a backup just in case.

Hope that helps a bit! ??
