• I don’t understand it. My comment form looks fine, but when you submit it, it doesn’t post. It’s not in moderation, and it’s not registering in Spam Karma (not that I expected it to, really, I just point this out to inform you that I’ve looked at it as another possibility).

Aside from looking in my database and finding the comments table, I’m don’t know how to verify if it actually made it in the database.

I’ve even tried switching themes just to see if any edits I’ve made to the usual files had anything to do with it, but that didn’t change anything either. There were a few files I modified in response to another couple of bugs. I’m not sure if they have anything to do with my comments not working, but they are:

    functions.php
    template-functions-post.php and
    template-functions-category.php

So when I switched them back to the originals, I got error messages. Switching them back to the modified versions seemed the only thing to do.

I’m using WP v1.5. Can someone please help?

    My site is https://www.familywebwatch.com/blog

Try disabling all active plugins (including the comment preview).

Thanks so much for responding, macmanx!

I disabled all plugins. When I went to view my blog I got some errors for the Post Updated and Get Recent Comments plugins. I activated those again and the page loaded fine.

But the great part is that I was actually able to post a comment! So I figure the next step is to load them one by one and find out which one is causing the problem.

If you have anything else to add, please do, otherwise I’ll post back with my findings.

Well, I can speculate that it’s either going to be the comment preview plugin or Spam Karma. If it is one of the two, make sure that you have the most up to date versions.

Oh man you are good. I was just about to post back and say that it’s Spam Karma. I’m using v1.20 alpha 2. I went to check out his site and while I saw that v2.0 is in the works it appears the version I have is the latest until v2 is released. Do I have that right?

    Yep, you have the latest.

Okay, so I’ll go SK-less for a little while longer (I feel naked all the sudden).

Any idea as to why it suddenly kept my comments from posting? Just curious. I didn’t find anything on Dave’s site to explain this.

Once again, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your help with this. Thank you!

You might want to post a comment on Dave’s site. He tends to respond within 24 hours. Until then, there plenty of other ways to combat comment spam: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Combating_Comment_Spam
