• my website https://www.somosguatemala.com is going really slow my web host is Ipage this is how my page is loading https://tools.pingdom.com/?url=www.somosguatemala.com&treeview=0&column=objectID&order=1&type=0&save=true

this is what ipage told me

I’ve updated your php.ini file today with settings that should help to optimize your WordPress environments.

    1. Set a proper session.save_path
    2. Upped PHP memory value to 128M from 18M
    3. Decreased your script max_execution_time from 300 to 90 sec.
    4. Enabled zlib.output_compression (gzipping of all PHP on the account) which should increase performance by around 33% or so, on average.

This should help a bit with increasing performance. However, keep in mind that you’re on a shared hosting platform and these days, WordPress themselves state that a production-quality WordPress blog should be on a platform that can at least offer up to 250MB of memory. This is simply not possible on the majority of shared hosting platforms, so if you’re running a large WordPress blog that has quite a bit of content (hundreds of posts and users) then you will need to seek hosting on either a Virtual Private Server or a Dedicated server, as those would guarantee you dedicated resources.

what do you guys recommend me to do with out spending to much money?

i was thinking using Dream Host VPS for my site: https://dreamhost.com/servers/vps/

would that help my page go quicker?

  • hi somosguatemala,

Before you change hosts you may want to look into using wp-supercache. It’s a plugin that will create static pages for your website and help speed up the load times. I know it dramatically affected mine.
