• Hi,

I have a couple of Websites (https://tourdublog.com and https://inteo.com.au) that are in version 5.1, and since then both of them which are hosted on the same physical host but in different virtual servers and WordPress installation won’t let me update WordPress in itself but also the plugins.

Both tell me that “I have the latest version of WordPress”, and that all my plugins, themes, translations are up to date, which is not true.

What could be causing this, could be an iptables rule for example? What are the mechanisms and URL / port used by WordPress to check if there are any updates available? I cannot find anything obvious in my iptables logs or even in the httpd logs.

    Thank you!

Have disabled auto updates via some plugin or some snippet?

    Hi t-p,

Thanks for your answer. No, not that I am aware of? Plus the two Websites do not exactly run the same plugins and I don’t know which one could potentially stop that. Plus, it was working until a few months ago and I have not added any plugins or changed anything since then.

I wouldn’t even know how to disable auto updates. Even without auto-updates, it does not even show me that there are updates available, so currently if I want to keep my WordPress, the only way to do it is the “old school” way by downloading the packages and installing them manually via FTP transfer, which is a pain.

    Thanks!

Hi, would anyone have any ideas on this problem? That is quite impacting for me and I am not sure where to look.

Does someone know the mechanism WordPress uses (which URL / PHP function etc.) to connect to the WordPress update server?

    Thanks for your help.

Alright no problem at all t-p, what are you suggesting then? Just go away with no solution? Find another forum or place where people would actually know how WordPress works with their updates?
I know this is an open-source tool with no support, I am just a bit surprised that nobody seems to have any clue about how the WordPress engine works and requests if there are any updates avaiable?

    Thanks
