Maybe something like 5-6 at least, to keep people coming back and read your blog.

If there are less wouldn’t that mean you would have to visit the blog more often in order to view the recent posts? By having more posts on the page, I can in theory if the author posts once a day, I can come once a week and still catch all the posts if there are 7 posts visible. However, if there are lets say 2. I would have to visit more frequently.
