• I’ve just installed myGallery 1.2 plug-in on my wordpress 2.1 based blog following the “step-by-step” guide in this forum.

The problem is that the plug-in admin pages are blank (no error message!) and the activation of the plug-in hasn’t created any tables on mySql DB.

    Anyone can help me?
    Rgds,

    Fabio

  • sorry, I’m trying to grasp exactly what you mean by non-standard admin-account. I’m very new to WP (only been using it for a matter of days) and I haven’t got a firm handle on users, setting privileges, etc. What I had to do to get the workaround to work was to add a new username (which is still mine, since I’m the only one editing the site right now and I used my email address) with admin privileges.

Eventually once it comes time to add a login for the client (who is not very tech savvy) I’d like to be able to grant her access to certain areas, so she can add/edit posts and photos, etc., but not be able to mess around with any of the themes, etc… is this what you’re getting at?

Again, I’m sorry to have to ask for clarification. But I would like to do whatever will make the site most secure. thanks!

“Every blog probably has at least two users: admin, the account initially set up by WordPress […]”

That is, every script-kiddy would try to attack via the username “admin” as this is a default one everwhere available. if the admin account has not the username “admin” anymore, automatically script attacks etc. are more likely to fail.

    Scavenger…

What do you mean when you say “comment out the one line”?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi everyone,
i tried hard to fix myGallery. Please try to use my version on diekretzschmars and tell me if you where succesful.
Please note that my version only works with wordpress 2.0 and higher because the plugin now uses the role management of wordpress 2.0.
I also added support for thickbox if you want to get rid of the fat lightbox. Have a look at my site to see it in action.

I don’t know exatly but the install bug should also be vanished. Please give me feedback.

I tried the proposed solution but still my db tables are not created. Any hints or tips on how to proceed next?
