    You’d have to ask Oracle about MySQL, but PHP is sticking around for the foreseeable future.

    Thanks for the response.

    I ask since other software (Sun/Oracle OpenOffice have stopped developing for that office suite according to what I’ve read.) Would MySQL be different from OpenOffice? Perhaps other DBMSs would work for WordPress if MySQL suffers the same as fate as OpenOffice.. Just wondering.

    Highly unlikely they’ll drop it. OpenOffice wasn’t a money maker. Oracle makes a killing with MySQL support for corporations.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I was curious about the role MySQL plays in a big corporation like Oracle. Wow, $2000/yr for standard edition MySQL support (er subscription.) $1200/yr for Linux support! Must be really good support.. ??
