• Ok, I thought I could do this, but apparently not…

I set up my wordpress site on 1&1. That is where both the database and content (.php files) are located…

I thought I could simply take the entire directory of the the content from the original site and place it on a new host server… Just the content, I am leaving the database at 1and1.

The config file shows the db host as xxxxx.perfora.net. (So it is not a relative location like localhost).

I am getting a DB connection error if I try and access the site from the new host.. Still functions fine if I try and access it from my original 1and1 host..

    Any help?? Thanks!

Probably a limitation that you can’t access the database from outside the 1&1 network. its been a while since I had a site on 1&1, but I think it was impossible to use something like sequel pro to manage the db for the same reason.

    Ok, that would make sense..

Getting pretty irritated with 1and1 right now.. Pictures are not uploading properly using the media manager.. It hangs while crunching… I was just going to try another host, but that wont work without moving the whole db…

How come you decided to have your database hosted at a different location than your site files?

Having some errors with with current host. Was going to try a different host to see if the problems were resolved…
