I have a Mac set up as a local web server using OSX / Apache. I also have MySQL and PHP4 but I am unsure where to install these where WordPress will “see” them. WordPress will be installed in users/user/sites. Any help would be appreciated as I am in major learning mode here.

    Thanx

    I’d recommend using XAMPP.

Again thanx for this link. I got everything installed and running. The only problem I had was installing the “right” version of MySQL. I am using WP 1.2 and it seems that only MySQL 4.0 will work with this WP version. The only thing the tutorial does not tell you is how to “uninstall” MySQL so to be safe, I just started from scratch with a clean install of OSX. I had to do this twice (third time was a charm!) as I started with v4.1, then the v5 alpha and finally 4.0. But, now I have a WP installation on a local computer on which I can experiment to my hearts content without having to worry about hosing my blog!

    Thanx Again
