mysql PHP7.X Update

  • Hi,
    I am confused and not amused.
    Using Wprdpress for some years I updates to 5.X and Gutenberg. Now I read the notice to uodate – but update is not possible. (sorry, i’m not native english speaking)
    My system at hoster site:
    Server: Linux 2.6.32-896.16.1.lve1.4.54.el6.x86_64 x86_64
    Webserver: Apache, DB mysqli, 5.6.40, PHP: 5.5, WordPress: 5.1.1
    When I trie to switch to PHP 7.1 (best of my providers choice) I get error message.

    Reading the requirements mySQL stands beside MarinaDB – but php7.X doesn’t support mysql – I’m happy for my provider offers me mysqli which seems to be supported too – but i could not find a description how to set the parameter correct. (reading forum for some hours)

    So please can anybody help me, write me like a cooking book (stept by step)?

    I support another page where the same problems I will find – another page ist planned (in wordpress or not??) so I woould be happy finden a solution.
