Mysql restore question

    In order to restore from one installation into a different (different domain and server) installation, does the mysql version have to be the same on both installations?

  • It shouldn’t need to be the same version.

    No, I transfered my domain from a host using version 3.x.xx to a host using 4.0.24. The import had no problems.

    As long as you’re using a supported version of MySQL, you should be able to move between versions without trouble. WordPress does not (yet) make use of version-specific features.

    Ok, thanks a lot. I went ahead and moved the blog to another server and everything works great.
