    (Pardon my ignorance)

What is my ‘DB_NAME’ or how do i find out?

What is my ‘DB_USER’ or do I make up my own?

What is my ‘DB_PASSWORD’ or do I make up my own?

Can I leave my ‘DB_HOST’ as ‘localhost’ ,if not how do I find out what to change it to?

    Is my ‘DB_CHARSET’ ‘utf8’ ?

  • All of this information comes from your web host. You’ll have to ask them what the correct values are. Really you should have 1) been given these values when you signed up for hosting or 2) been given instructions on how to set up the DB. Dig around in your email of log into your wb host backend and look around for ‘Help’. You can probably (almost certainly) leave DB_CHARSET set to the default.

In most hosting situations you determine/set/create all but the DB_HOST value. If Step 2 of Installing WordPress doesn’t help you, call your host.

    Is my host my ISP?

Yes. Unless your ISP is Charter Communications. In that case, they will tell you they don’t provide this information. They will say their job is only to provide hosting space.

    Go figure.

roger.oshea – In most cases, your ISP is NOT your host. What is your domain, please?
