I am having a problem trying to get rid of space between 2 rows in a table.

    The blog is here: https://www.vivbounty.biz

The Table is in the side bar, Text Widget right under the search widget.

This form/table displays perfectly outside of WordPress but as soon as I put it in the sidebar I get this white space between the first and second row.

I’ve tried taking out the <tr> between <td>, I’ve tried putting the form in html editor and centering the top image which makes the space go away until I paste it back into WordPress. I’m cross-eyed.

Can someone please look at this code and help me remove this white space?

    Thanks,
    Viv

  • Try using Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of CSS work.

Thanks esmi, will try that and report back.

OK esmi, I’m thinking this firebug is waaaaayyyyy advanced for me. How do I get it to check my form? It seems to check the body of the blog but I’m not sure how to get it to check just the form.

    Have you any insight?

    Thanks again for the direction.

Using “inspect element” feature of firebug allows you to look at the CSS (and html code) of the site — so you can see what is going on live. Then you know which CSS to change — to adjust spacing, etc.

BTW, there is no obvious spacing issue in the form in Firefox on a Mac. What is the problem you see?

EDIT — okay, now I see a gap above the image??

I think you need more width for the form on the side bar.

Thanks Krishna, & WPyogi. I’ve upgraded to Theme2011 and now the width issues have appeared in the form. I’m going to try the inspect element. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Hello support, (Not sure who’s here at the moment at this late hour). I have the firebug inspecting the element. It’s looking at the form and I see Javascript boxes, I think. I’m not sure how to tell what I should remove. Is there a way I can send you a screenshot to see what I’m seeing so that I can figure out how to change this code to line up the table correctly and remove the white space?

Upload in your own server and paste the link here. You can delete it later. Anyway, there IS NO MALWARE or anything about that at this moment. There is nothing serious to worry about.

    Hello Krishna,
I’ve looked at this for hours and hours and finally I have figured out how to actually look at the page in Firefox, and right click to inspect element with firebug. Still no idea how to fix it as all columns and images appear to be the same width. I uploaded a simple form under the original one so you can see that it comes in all out of line before I add my own text, fields and images to it.

https://www.vivbounty.biz # widget in sidebar “testing”.

    Thanks for taking a look.

It is clearly a case of insufficient width. Are you using the original Twenty-eleven or a child theme of it? Do you know how to change the wrapper width, container width, side bar width, etc.?

I am using a child theme of 2011 and no I don’t know how to change the wrapper width, container width, side bar width. Can you help me with simplest possible instructions, Krishna?

    I would so appreciate it.

Well, someone has to do it. If you do not know how to do it, you have to hire someone. A simple, small change cannot bring the change you want to have.

Another possibility is to use some other theme that is designed to accommodate larger ads on the side bar. If you like I can suggest some such themes that you can download from WordPress for free. You can use them without changes, or you can make changes very easily.

    Think and reply.

Thanks Krishna, that gives me someplace to start for a solution. I’ll revert momentarily.

    Kind regards,
    Viv

    Try this theme:
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/atahualpa
Just download it and install. Make it two column, change any colors, or any other theme change you want. You don’t need to know anything. There is a theme frame work. There are separate boxes and columns. Just type the changes you want.

Additionally, you can search through the WP themes directory. Select the one that suits your needs.

    Hello Krishna,

Could I not just make my table and images narrower to fit the current child theme I’m using?
