Hi all, our office person who updates the calendar found a mystery event on our calendar, an Executive Board Meeting on September 11; she didn’t create the event and when you search for in on the backend in the events list, it doesn’t come up. When you click the link for the event on the front end, it takes you to the home page, so it’s a dead link.

It’s in a category color that doesn’t exist, but I seem to recall that I had assigned that color to the default category when the site was set up. That category has since been deleted.

Any idea what might be happening? Thanks so much!

  • Hi Raya,

It sounds like this could be an orphaned event. Can you try running Remove Orphaned Events under Events > Settings General > Admin Tools.

Great suggestion, but when I tried to do it, it said that there were 93 possible orphan events and since we only know of one, I don’t want to do it if it’s going to remove events that are supposed to be there. There doesn’t seem to be an option to review each one to see if it’s a true orphan, so I’m hesitant to try it.

Is the mystery event a single event or a recurring event?

It’s something that occurs every month, same time, the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Our staff person normally enters in it as a recurring event, but she hasn’t gone that far in the year, so this one appeared and she didn’t put it in.

another way to check or remove is using custom sql command or your hosting provider > phpmyadmin > wp_em_events
