    I’ve been running the default setting of Mystique (2 columns, right sidebar, fixed width) with no problems since I started my blog in January. Last week I upgraded to WP 3.0, and later that same day upgraded to Mystique 2.3.1, whereupon I discovered an issue that I previously reported on this forum (not resolved, of course). Since then I’ve also upgraded to version 2.4.2, after which I cleared the cache on the two browsers I use — IE 8 and Firefox 3.5. I am still having the same problem, so I’m hoping someone may be able to help me. First, I should note that mine is a gay-themed adult blog (which you can see here), for which the content is mostly photos with some text. Previously I had been able to post images up to 768 px width, with the sidebar able to fully display banners and widgets, such as the Calendar widget. Now, however, if I use the fixed width, I cannot display both — if I have the content page large enough to show 768 px images, the Calendar widget (which I’m using as an example) is cut off. If I use the fluid width, the content column stretches to the left (at least on my widescreen monitor), all of which leaves the site with way too much white space. So, I ask: is there a way to customise one of these widths (to make the fixed width slightly larger or the fluid width so everything is more centered in the middle) so that I can go back to using the image and widget sizes I had before? Hope this makes sense, and thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide. Believe me, I’ve spent a ton of time in the past days trying to figure this out on my own, without posting here again, but I haven’t been able to figure this out.

  • You could just use the fixed width and make the sidebar wide enough to accommodate the calendar. Then crop the photos smaller so that they fit properly within the width allotted for the content column. Users can click on the photos to view larger versions.

    Thanks for that suggestion, but I have too many photos already on the blog at that 768 px size. Also, in my case, when viewers click on the photos I’ve inserted the url of a paysite for them to go to, so the biggest version they can see is the one displayed in the content area.

    Also, just want to note that I currently have the blog set at the fluid width, which is allowing me to continue to post larger photos. However, I don’t want to keep it that way for long, as that excess of white space definitely damages the look of the site.

    I would be happy to keep the fluid width if there was just a way to adjust everything so that the content and sidebar are both centered in the middle of the screen, i.e., similar to the fixed-width appearance.

    Thanks again for trying to help, though! And I look forward to hearing any suggestions from you and anyone else who may have an idea about this.

    in the user css field add:

    body.fluid .page-content{
      max-width: 1200px;
    }

    leave the fluid option on. fixed width means fixed @ 940px.
