Never mind – I figured it out. Thank you!

What did you end up having to do? Also can you screen shot it? I’m curious if it’s pertaining to a new feature or the old update nag.

    Thank you!

It’s gone so I can’t screen shot it. It appeared after I did your update this morning. Even though I had updated it, I got a message saying something like “You’re almost there! Activate Image Widget.” It confused me because I’ve had the plugin a while and it was already activated. When I clicked on the box, it led me to something that said if I wanted more access I needed to link to some site (which I’m sure is part of your site?) I didn’t do that. When I went back and tried it again, I noticed I could click Skip and I did and the nag disappeared.

Thank you. That is indeed a new aspect to the plug. Your feedback is very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to elaborate!

Does that make sense to you? I hope all is well with the plugin and that whatever I did was okay.

    Yup. Totally makes sense.

Just updated and now I get this on the dashboard:

Thanks for upgrading the Image Widget! If you like this plugin, please consider rating it and maybe even check out our premium plugins including our Events Calendar Pro!

    Will this disappear eventually?

Was too much, created a new thread…

    Hello @phalancs

Indeed we have retracted that piece of code. I’m sorry that it caused you frustration. I would be delighted if you would reconsider your rating since we literally only added that code yesterday and then retracted it already exactly because it was inconsistent with our ethos of keeping the plugin light and clutterfree.

We’ve never put ads in the plugin. We’ve never asked money for it. We were hoping to use that code to learn more about our users so we could better serve them but as you point out, that approach needs a lot more thought before it is ready for prime time.

Thank you all the same for taking the time to write us. I hope this reply helps.

I see that it’s disappeared. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply Peter. My anger vanished but please understand us as users. More and more plugins try to draw our attention to them. Which is basically totally fine for free solutions but creates a whole lot of mess in the backend. And settings definitely should always be put into the according section.

Anyways. Keep up coding and have a nice day ??
    Cheers!

Ok, but too late, I was so scared and got rid off all image-widgets on my sites. What is FREEMIUS, btw?
