• My site is not live yet, but I have published many posts in preparation for that day, which will be coming soon. When previewing posts, while the comment box does appear at the bottom of each post, I do not see the fields for commenters to enter their first/last name and email address. I checked that box in Discussion Settings (“Comment author must fill out name and email”), and saved it, but it still does not appear. What am I doing wrong.

The link included with this question goes to a sample post page.

It may be a plugin/theme conflict. To troubleshoot, try:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Alternately, if you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Are you logged into the site?

When you’re loged into any account on your site it uses your name and email address from your profile, and hides the fields. The fields are only shown when it’s someone that’s not logged in.

Yes, I was logged in when viewing. So that must be it. Much thanks for the pointer. I’m still new at this.
