I’ve installed this plugin and while file names update in the Media Library, they’re not updating in posts created with Elementor. (The HTML for the old image name is still there, so the image is not showing up at all.)

Can this plugin be used with Elementor? If so, how do I get it to work?

    Thanks.

    Hi @bws-online,
I’ve made a few test with elementor and everything worked fine, do you have other plugins installed?

    Which theme are you using?

Do you open your media library in a separate browser tab when you rename the image files?

    Hi again!

Yes, there are other plugins installed.

    I’m using Astra.

I don’t recall what I did previously (re: media library in a separate browser tab). What do you mean related to that, though — a separate tab from what?

I just tried a draft post and renamed a test image and it worked. I’ll keep an eye on this and let you know if it’s still a concern. Thanks.

    Hi @bws-online,
I’m sorry for my late reply but I’ve been very busy in the past weeks.

You can use more than one browser tab on the same site (I usually use at least two tab to see frontend and backend at the same time) and if you have one tab displaying the media library and another one displaying WordPress editor opened on a page that contain the image you are renaming, the WordPress editor doesn’t receive the new name and will save the page with the original file name.

Let me know if you find other issue.

I’m finding an issue as well not sure if it is with Elementor.

I rename the file name, but it doesn’t change the file name using Elementor, so it breaks the image. I find this happens when I’m doing the “Add Media” feature in Elementor text box.

It works for Featured Images. Can you help?

    Hi @badhairdude,
the issue seems related to background images (I was able to reproduce the issue only using a background image).

I’ll check where elementor store this kind of information to see if I can fix the issue.

It seems a problem related to css caching policy in Elementor: the css is updated when you save the page, but Phoenix Media Rename wirte directly to database, Elementor doesn’t regenerate css and images added through css (like background images) are broken until you manually regenerate css.

Can you make a test renaming an image and regenerating css (you can find the command in Elementor->tools->regenerate css)? On my test server this resolved the issue.

I’m tring to find an API in Elementor that gives me access to that command, if I find it I’ll release an update as soon as possible.

    Hope this help

I tried and it didn’t work. Still hard coded it seems

    Hi @badhairdude,
I released Phoenix Media Rename version 1.4.0 that fixes some issue with elementor, let me know if you find more issues.

    Hope this will help you
