Hi, we use your very helpfull addon plugin for form 7.
One question. the ‘honeypot field’ is named [honeypot honeypot-xyz]

If I was a spam, botmaker, I would search for fields starting with honeypot and leaving that one empty.

Is there away to completely change the field name in the form to a new ‘secret’ field name?

Hi, yes. As mentioned when generating the Honeypot code in the CF7 form as well as on the installation tab (here on www.ads-software.com), it is recommended to change the Name field to something less “honeypot-ish” (it reads: For better security, change “honeypot” to something less bot-recognizable.)

So the honeypot field would still work when I change
    [honeypot honeypot-xyz] to [field-email email-1] ?

No. The shortcode still needs to start with “honeypot”, as that tells the shortcode function what shortcode it is. But you can use [honeypot email-1] and “honeypot” will not appear anywhere in the generated form field (I recommend viewing your page’s HTML source — search for the field name — and you’ll see exactly what a bot sees)
