Nationbuilder Feed – Custom Fields

    Hi Again,

    I have a people custom text field in NationBuilder called Volunteer Skills. Slug is volunteer_skills

    In the Feed, when I map a single line text field in Gravity, to the NationBuilder custom field using the slug, it returns an error. Is there some different syntax for custom fields? A search on Nationbuilder did not provide any clarity.

    That’s odd – it should work without trouble. What is the error message?

    ERROR MESSAGE:

    There was an error pushing this entry to NationBuilder:
    Error code: invalid_custom_field
    Error message: Your request had an unknown custom field

    What is now even more odd… I removed the custom field and even reduced the FEED to just First Name, Last Name, Email and Phone and one basic tag and I still get the same error. I triple checked the NB field names. No matter what I do I get the same error. I just tried sending our basic mailing list form which is First Name, Last Name, Email and Phone and that works fine.

    I also deleted the feed for the problem form and made another one with just the basic data and I still get the same error.

    Could the formatting issue where the fields are off screen somehow be causing the problem? Or is there some persistence of data from the deleted feed?

    I’m stumped…

    I assume the fields in the form have no bearing on the feed… only what I add to the field.

    Did you add the custom field through the NB back end before adding it in the Gravity Forms settings?

    As for why the error would continue after you removed the custom field from the feed, I really couldn’t say. I would try rebuilding the feed from scratch.

    The NB custom field has been there for a while.

    I rebuilt the feed and even not using the custom field it still returns the same error.

    I suppose rebuilding the whole form is next…

    okay, I made a complete new form with just Name, Email and Phone and it also gets this error:

    There was just a gravity forms update a couple days ago. I am using GF 2.1.0.1. I have 0.3.3 of your plugin and I am also using a plugin called Disable Gravity Forms Fields which allows me to hide sub-labels. Disabling that had no change.

    Also, I am using Enfold theme.

    So it seems that any new forms/feeds I make do not go into NB. The form entries are working fine. I don’t know how to troubleshoot this further.

    Hey, sorry for the late response. It took a lot of digging but it appears that this *is* a bug with Gravity Forms. I’ll reach out to them and see what can be done.

    The specific issue is with how the script that sets up their repeatable fields:

    Just a quick update – GF sent me a patched version to test which fixed the issue. Hopefully they’ll push that out shortly. Go ahead and re-open this if the their update doesn’t fix the issue!

    For clarification… you made a new version (0.3.6) of Importer for Gravity Forms and NationBuilder plugin and Gravity Forms will also be putting up an update?

    That’s correct. The updated version of *my* plugin is unrelated to the actual bug – that will be fixed when GF pushes their update.

    We are still waiting on the gravity update to get our forms working into NB. Would you be able to ask them some sort of timetable?

    I have 2.1.1 already… could they have made a tiny update and not changed the number?
