Nav buttons always at the bottom

which slideshow theme are you using?

I plan to use the Cubic one but the issue exists on all of them.

Adding this custom CSS through your theme should fix the issue:

ul.flex-direction-nav {
  position: absolute;
  top: 50%;
  left: 0;
  right: 0;
  transform: translateY(-50%);
  z-index: 9;
}
