Navigation menu item for custom post type is selected along with all posts

Hi,

Not sure if I’ve phrased this correctly in the title. I have a navigation menu which has a link to a custom post type in it.

It also has a link to the News section (regular blog posts with category news). However, when I’m on the custom post archive page or an individual custom post page, the navigation menu highlights the News section too.

Why would this be? Are my custom posts a subset of all news posts?

Is this a custom post issue or do I have something wrong in my theme?
